depends on what i'm doing.  if i am stump busting the breakage/loss goes up.  just target shooting and i do ok.  i shoot wood shafts.  all in all, i probably break or lose 8-12 arrows a year.

Only time I break an arrow is when I robinhood it.

Losing an arrow in this thick crap over here on teh Wet side almost everytime I whack an animal.

I don't lose/break too many arrows until later in the summer.  I start really challenging myself (usually buddies and I are trying to one up each other) with very difficult or long shots, funny shots like trying to loop one over brush or standing on one leg on a little stump, sitting on the ground and turning all the way around - whatever is more difficult than an actual (likely) hunting shot to bring confidence and help concentration when it counts.

Yeah, right!   :chuckle:

With a rifle you only need a few things.  The damn archery industry is built on our addiction.

To answer your question, I'll go through 2 dozen arrows a year between shooting every day at home, hunting, and 3D tournaments.  It happens; they break.....simple as that.  Unfortunately $14 apiece isn't easy to swallow, even after the 30th dozen!
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

I have been shooting the same GT Pro Hunters for about 3 or 4 years now with only having broke 2 and that was last year due to broadhead cuts.
God Bless,

in one year of shooting and hunting i have broken or lost a dozen or so easton st axis. it sucks but it's part of the game. i learned real quick to shoot different spots rather than the same one shot after shot. not sure why people think robin hoods are so cool...thats $24.00 down the tubes in one shot. no thanks i'll stick to shooting spots.

Losing or busting an arrow isn't all that bad.  I mean what's $14 dollars right.  Now if you happen to have a $12 broad head attached to that arrow then that sucks.  $26 bucks can add up quick. I've accepted the fact that every time I shoot at an animal that it will cost me $26.

Thats not always true, many times I have got my arrow back and it was good enough to shoot again...... but on the other side I have had many that passed through never to be seen again, or they broke off  while stuck in the animal...

yeah i don't really care if i sacrifice one to kill an animal. that thought or concern wouldn't even cross my mind.
it could be $50 and it wouldn't bother me.

I've had the same dozen for the last three years (Easton Axis). I have lost two (one with a broadhead on it) and broke two off in elk. I tune them every year before I start shooting again. I only shoot for about 4 months a year so that helps keep them in good shape.

I will be purchasing a dozen and a half this year since my son is now going to be hunting as well.

I robin hooded several arrows last year or knocked the veins off of several.  I had to get several replacements and re-fletch most of my arrows prior to hunting season.  Lost two out hunting this year as I over shot two animals and one was snapped off in my deer.  They get expensive if your shooting a $112 / dozen plus G5 broadheads.
Cut em!

dang! I guess what surprises me most is what you're all paying for arrows.  Maybe mine are in the training wheel category but I got a dozen for $60 (ergo, five bucks a pop), and they came with vains and field tips. The pro shop even cut 'em for my size.
