As I search the web for some quality 308 brass....I am seeing they now make 308 win in SR primer pockets. This started with 6.5 creed and appears to be taking hold with other calibers now. My question (s).....what do you all think about this. Is SR primer pockets better than LR primer pockets. I have read some pros and cons.....and not sure what to think. I recently purchased Alpha SR 6.5 creed for one of my rifles, but haven't done any load development to date. I've never had issues with LR primer brass so why the change? I've never had primer pocket issues and my brass in non magnum cartridges and they last 10-15 reloads. I've read that SR primer brass can be a little more finicky.....is this true?
Trying to be open minded....but don't want to be all in on the SR primer pockets till they are proven. It's my understanding, the biggest pro (that is marketed) is primer pocket longevity due to more brass and less stretching. This has not been a major issue with non magnum cartridges in my reloading career.
