another? about .22 scopes
« on: June 21, 2009, 12:34:10 PM »
I am really thinking about putting a simons .22 mag on my T-bolt. I know its not the greatest of scopes and Id really love to go with leupold or even the weaver but the simons is about a third the cost of a weaver and a quarter the cost of a leupold. I know I know you get what you pay for but I really cant justify the extra dough right now especially for a .22 :dunno: now here is my question; do I go for the fixed 4 or the 3x9?
nuke the gray whales for jesus!

jdb,
I have an extra fixed 4x scope I've been thinking about putting on my .22LR to pop some coyotes. Let me know how it turns out and you just might inspire me to get off my punk @$$ and get 'er done.

I just put a Burris 3x9 rimfire on my CZ452 American and sure like it. The scope seems bright even late into the evening. As Iam getting older I sure like the extra power of this scope over the fixed 4 that Ihad on there before.

You might want to take a look at the Mueller Optics APV scope, it's a 4.5x14x40 has great glass and tracks very well.  Muellers customer service is terrific and the price is super for what your getting $114. Shipped.

http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MAPV451440.html

Here's a good place to get one.

They get good reviews over at rimfire central.

I have one on a Savage MK-II , used it on my .243 for coyotes for a couple years, but needed something for the 22.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

I have 2 of the Simmons 22 mag AO 3x9 scopes.  I use one of them for my “kick around” scope, it has been mounted on a.22, 30/30, 30-06, 50 cal ML, and 12 gauge and it still works like a champ.  Great scopes IMO.  I doubt if you could get a better 100 yard scope at any price.

i had a 22 mag 4x on my CZ for a while.  not the greatest scope in the world but it did the job just fine.  hard to go wrong for the price.

i eventually stepped up to a weaver 2.5-7x32 model.  makes it easier to swat flies with :chuckle:
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
