After ehd wiped out the deer in 139 a few years ago I wasn't sure if we'd ever see deer again. Thankfully this year they were in full recovery and there were a few total studs running around. I caught them on cam but didn't see any until the tail end of the modern season when MHWash and I laid eyed on an absolute monster.  Unfortunately we couldn't close the deal with him. When I checked cams prior to the late muzzy opener I saw this guy and just hoped and prayed I'd get a chance at him. I didn't think I would because it never seems to work that way but the day after Thanksgiving I found myself in a staring contest with this brute at 130 yards. The showdown lasted for about 20 minutes but I never did get a shot and he blew at me and took off. 2 days later I found myself staring at this old boy again at 130 but this time he was broadside and staring at the "dreamy doe" decoy, not me. I was able to make the shot which was not perfect, but it did the trick. I spined him and he dropped like a ton of bricks. At 57, this is my best deer to date. I've never been much into scoring other than to discuss the approximate size we see from day to day but if we're even close, this comes in at a little over 155 gross and 148 net. I'm no authority on these things but I'll be interested on any of you "pros" out there know the procedure for officially scoring a deer. Shoot me a pm, I'd appreciate it. If our measurements are close, I'm in the top 10 for Washington muzzy whitys. By the way, I believe the deer MHWash and I saw was BIGGER!! I can't @#$%ing wait until next year!
ive botived a better population as well some areas still are in recover but some bounced back pretty good
