Finally made it out on the last Sat. of the season. (my own fault) We, Dakota and I had a great time. Hunted a WDFW Reservation site and sat the first 1.5 hours just watching the hunters in the field next to me hammer the ducks. (like watching TV) they had hundreds of decoys out and there were 7 of them. But once they had their limits I assume, they picked up and cleared out in about an hour. We were able to get a couple in the next hour. Ended up with the 4 ducks, mostly because of my shooting

Only having to have 15 shells really puts a dent in the number of shots you take at a passing bird. More than likely we could have limited out if we had more shells and hunted the rest of the day, but we left around 12:30. This was Dakotas first real duck hunt and she had no problem retrieving the ducks. So I'm excited for next year. I will say she is fantastic on the upland birds. She's just over 2 years old now, and hoping to get back to SD this fall. Well that's a wrap on the 2024 season and congrats to everyone on what looks like a pretty good season over all.
