A little more fairness in the allocation of tags would be nice. One login, all sales done via a single method (no in-person v. online), only purchase for yourself or immediate family (e.g., spouse and kids)...also, would like to see the outfitter welfare end. Ridiculous to carve out over 45% of the NR quota just for outfitters in some of these units.   :bash:
and then have those same outfitters standing in line to buy out of "our" tag pool for customers :bash:
Yea, that's certainly one way to increase the value of their welfare, err, I mean the quota they are allocated.  Wish outfitters would embrace free markets a little more and socialism a little less.

Why not just make it where if you had a tag last year you have the opportunity to buy that tag again before the general public? Similar to what timber companies do. I understand there is no perfect system but when you have a group of guys who have a tradition of hunting the same area every year with friends n family I think they should have the opportunity to do that vrs someone who got a bad spot in line and someone else grabbed that tag because their #1, 2 or 3rd choice was already taken...

You couldn't go back a year,  you'd have to go back a few year's cause some first time guys snuck in under the radar since this madness started...:chuckle:
My "preference" order would be......
Non resident property owners  8)
Long time Idaho Hunter's  8)
High success rate 8)
Neighboring State resident's  8)
State residents of neighboring States :chuckle:
Then everyone else...

Alright I can’t take it anymore. The “Why not” and “I think” How about if you didn’t hunt there 10-15 years ago you go back to doing whatever you did before and leave it how it was for the rest of us? No? I didn’t think so. Someone is going to be displeased with whatever is decided. I havnt hunted the unit I hunted for 10 years straight because I can’t get the tag I wanted since the change. We used to buy them couple days before season and to boot go buy another mid way through and shoot a second deer or elk. I also don’t get the hey reminder tag sale tomorrow or the hey don’t forget apps are due tomorrow posts. I hope people forget to submit or buy give everyone else a better chance. The less people post online or tell other people about where they hunted the better. The internet has ruined everything. Thanks I feel better now lol
You gonna draw those pistols or whistle Dixie?

I had my preferred tag last year. Didn't get either of my top 3 this year so I didn't buy any that were available. That idea won't work.

I like the no proxy buying unless for immediate family. I have benefited in past from a proxy buy but all in all it is a net negative to the fairness of the system. Having a guy making money buying 10 deer and elk tags for people he doesn't even know is where it goes wrong for me.

The funny thing is that residents have struggled with the limited number of elk tags for years and they have been lining up and buying them out within hours. Maybe if they had a hunting Idaho forum we could see how they feel as well.

I get why people don't like it but personally I love it.  Current system ensures that every year I'm gonna have an ID tag in my pocket.  A draw.....not so much.  I've never bought in person either. Always online.
I love the system too. Feel like the effort involved is a good thing either at home or in line for a long time

I was #4 in line, when the gal punched my elk tag it was sold out at 9:07. Can't believe it was sold out that fast. Been hunting that unit for 25 years. To much multi media and guys with their you tube channel telling all the new guys how and where to go.

In line for 18 hours 😂. You guys can have it. I’m waiting for them to
Go to a draw system.

Not that I dont think you tube and influencers trash units, but the Idaho system and most states systems highlight the most desirable units. We all know in what order they sell out. Many folks purchase the most desirable units they’re given the chance to purchase.
Your unit is desirable to people that have never seen it cause other folks like you buy the tags.

Pioneer B was sold out in 2 minutes, with Big Desert B gone 3 minutes later.
