Idaho Non-Res Tag Frenzy Tuesday- Who’s playing?
« on: December 09, 2024, 11:14:03 PM »
Idaho - here we go, the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good - last year before the draw.
The bad - driving or getting a tag Mule to purchase in Idaho.
The Ugly - trying to get a tag online

Gave up online couple years ago.  Good Luck to those 60,000 brave soles trying.

Anyone trying?

Not me. They ruined that state for me by doing this. Usually I am across country servicing machines and training when they go on sale and can’t be stuck at a computer.

Hopefully people do their research and just don't buy so they can say they got an Idaho tag...only to return it later on..

I know lots of people that made the drive...the lines are growing..
Hopefully this year goes smoothly but we'll see...
I hate this system...

We always just do the late whitetail.. but what I have always wondered and haven't figured out yet is what if I am #2:in line? What am I missing out on not getting for elk or others or is all the "quality " stuff controlled hunt applications?

I dont believe this is the last year before the draw. Pretty sure we'll be doing this again one last time next year...

House Bill 696 would create Section 36-419, Idaho Code, to say, "On and after November 15, 2026, any deer, elk, or pronghorn antelope tag or permit will not be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis to a nonresident who is subject to a general hunt tag quota set pursuant to section 36-408, Idaho Code, unless that tag is unclaimed, returned, or otherwise unsold after being made available through at least one (1) drawing or otherwise set aside as a tag for outfitted hunter use pursuant to section 36-408, Idaho Code.

I get why people don't like it but personally I love it.  Current system ensures that every year I'm gonna have an ID tag in my pocket.  A draw.....not so much.  I've never bought in person either. Always online.

I personally love it because i've managed to get my tags as well. For a solo hunter its not as bad, for a group looking to plan a hunt together, computer lottery is not the way to go...

Are you getting #10,000 + and waiting 4 hours to get any remaining deer tag?
Or just incredibly lucky?   We try for average elk area and last time son was number 1800 (out of 30k+) and tags were still gone.  Five of us putting ing were number 10,000 plus on average.
