I think not allowing others to buy tags for others is a huge solution hereif you want a tag bad enough take the time like the rest of us and get in a car and drive to idaho.

I would think a limit should be established on how many one person can buy, 12 from one guy is ridiculous.  I’d think 4 is a good max. But, either way, this sucks.

Why make another draw, you think that’s going to help? Only more people will be applying at that point. At least with route if you want to go you can, a draw will not help you out.

Draws allow groups to put in together. Idaho has some unique rules in their draw that if you apply for moose, goat or sheep you can’t apply for other tags and they have a rule about allowing unlimited 1st choices for some hunts. If they build the draw right they could create opportunities for groups to return to the same area each year and make it unattractive to apply for the general otc tags if you want to apply for something else.

That would likely reduce some of this fiasco but having repercussions for people applying or buying unwanted tags that they can just get a refund for later.

I admittingly agree that the current system is a sh!tshow. But I agree with others that if ID moves to a general draw (I imagine similar to MT), then odds are likely still going to be low... potentially even lower because it takes the commitment out of it. Way more applications for the same tags without having to leave your home. We have family in ID so that helps... Washington folk should love this system because traveling to ID isn't a huge deal. For the gents coming from Maryland, Wisconsin, etc... sounds like those guys really wanted a tag!!

My brother in law and I got our Panhandle Regulars... gonna try for muleys and hunt whitetails in between. Congrats to all that braved the cluster this morning and got a tag

Got my general deer tag for a hell hole unit. You got to pick the worst units and hunt them hard. Lol Seems to work for me.

Also got a wolf tag. You never know.

But hey if you are *censored*ed up for antlers and did not get your tags you wanted. Go for some predators and quit yer whining. Black bear "eats" as my teenage kids say.

Spring bear is the best and I got my tag for that as well.

Good luck out there

From what I’ve seen I’m surprised someone hasn’t been shot yet.  I think they should do without all in person sales.

I’ll say the same thing I say every year, we don’t need another dang draw. A few small tweaks and the current system could be 10x better than it is now. It honestly doesn’t seem like they have any interest in “fixing” anything and I can’t say I blame them. Supply and demand 101

Got my whitetail and elk tags online.

If I showed up anywhere last night or this morning and there was already a huge line I would have kept driving.

I talked to a few friends that bought in person today- one said there were only a couple people to buy and the other said they were the only ones. Being 50th or something last night or four hours before the sale this morning woulda been a quick no for me.

Congrats to everyone that got tags. I also have mixed feelings about it going to a draw.

I think the only two changes need to be 1: you log in with your info. Limits you to one device, helps alleviate the amount of traffic on the server and shows realistic numbers of people online attempting to buy etc. 2: limit the amount of tags one can buy to himself and one family member etc. this whole thing with guys buying 10-12 tags is insane. I was under the impression we were already limited to 4 overall but maybe that is not the case. Either way, going to a draw is going to be a death sentence to most camps. There will be 10x the amount of t of people applying since it won’t cost much to throw your name in the hat and there is no effort/commitment to the process. Is it rough currently, absolutely. Are there solutions that don’t require going to a draw, absolutely. Good luck to everyone this year.

I can't believe the outfitters get tags alloted to them only AND they get in the front of the line and buy tags for all their non resident clients.

That's the only problems I have.
There are 2many.

I am thinking the logging in beforehand thing must threaten to crash the system more easily than just using a cookie to hold your place in line. I could be wrong. Weyerhaeuser uses queit, also and you do log into that first. Probably less volume, though.

A system like they have, but only allowing nonresidents to buy their own tag, maybe a second for their child seems perfect. But all these other purchases seem so shady. I know guys that have buddies that are Idaho residents and they just buy tags for them. Being able to log on and buy 10 tags, or have Idaho residents buy a nonresident person their tags is such BS. Plus, why not have an elk day, then a deer day.  Some only want to get an elk tag and some want deer tags, why not have different days so you don't get 60k people cluttering up the system. Idk....

One person buying 10 tags is more efficient than 10 people buying 1 tag.  Sure maybe all ten don’t drivevto idaho - but maybe they do.

What happened with Idaho House Bill 587 that was supposed to be voted on to approve a point system for non resident OTC tags?
