they'll go to a draw, why wouldnt they? it just means more money in their pocket.
add a non refundable 10 or 20 dollar application fee.... boom even more revenue.
as much as idaho residents HATE non resident hunters, like 60% or something of the departments revenue comes from non res sales.
when i first started hunting idaho i was buying my license and tag in like august without any issues  :chuckle: :bash:

We would buy deer and elk tags in the summer and hunt the mid State back country late Sept. Then in Nov go North and buy a second deer tag and kill mountain whitetails...
Oh the good ole days .. :chuckle:

That was maybe 2019 or so you could buy your tags at your leisure. LOL!

I got a deer tag. Not exactly what I wanted, but close.

2016 was the last year they didn't sell out before late spring.

I get why people don't like it but personally I love it.  Current system ensures that every year I'm gonna have an ID tag in my pocket.  A draw.....not so much.  I've never bought in person either. Always online.

Karl you get lucky again ?
oh yeah.  Obviously not my first choice but I know where I'll be Oct 10 :IBCOOL:

Amazing! Congrats.  We all 3 got our Elk tag in Zone we wanted but have to go across the road for our deer tag - was hoping to find the monster we saw this year.

I went in with one elk zone in mind and that one only.  #7775 was nowhere near close enough to get it.  I’ll keep trying throughout the year, we’ll see.

A little more fairness in the allocation of tags would be nice. One login, all sales done via a single method (no in-person v. online), only purchase for yourself or immediate family (e.g., spouse and kids)...also, would like to see the outfitter welfare end. Ridiculous to carve out over 45% of the NR quota just for outfitters in some of these units.   :bash:

and then have those same outfitters standing in line to buy out of "our" tag pool for customers :bash:

:yeah: the outfitters and the residents making a business out of being a buyers agent along side the vendors, those are the two major issues I see. A work acquaintance got his tags through a local charging 100 bucks a pop for him and about a dozen other guys. Not sure if he's a vendor or had a vendor accomplice but I'd assume so

Outfitters are Idaho small businesses that have a vested interest in the state they live in and we are nothing more than whiny out of state hunters. Who do you think the people of Idaho are going to listen to?

The outfitter tags are just a set aside and the outfitters are not getting those tags processed before are able to buy our tags so it has no impact except for the number available to us. Which then are sold in August if they do not get sold.

The way stores choose to sell the tags is up to them. They could make it 1 tag per person if they want or they can process all of their friends tags before they serve the person at the counter. It’s all up to the business owner.
