yakima training center
« on: October 29, 2024, 07:07:54 AM »
My cow tag starts tomorrow for the YTC. I went out a couple weeks ago and drove around. Not much action mostly because of which area's were open. But that said I'm no expert on the area. I see they did open areas that I'm told are the good ones. Any news on those would be nice. Actually any info at all would be nice. My granddaughter has the youth tag for later in the year. That is my main focus to be ready for her hunt.

You'll find them. Just get out and poke around.
Not a chip shot, but plenty of animals.
All the units have elk, just better numbers in certain areas.
Make sure she is prepared to make a longer shot in very open country quickly.

DAGON  SENT YOU A PM

And to add to what YAKIRAK said for the public side of those reading this.  GO THE SPEED LIMIT!  DONT RELY ON CRUISE CONTROL.... 2mph over on a downhill will get you pulled over. Ask me how I know   :chuckle:  I had this all done, but when I was there at 0 dark 30 signing in some guys showed up that didn't have their rec cards or their rifles registered so make sure that is done....

Thanks everyone. I'll be heading over tomorrow unless they close most of the units.

I've got a buddy over there right now with his daughter who has a youth tag.  All they are seeing are bulls and deer.  Is there any zones/units that are better for cows right now?  Thanks

I’ll be heading over on the 1st with my son trying to fill his first youth tag. Any info on what units are holding cows would be much appreciated!

central impact area. I would hunt the ranges that border the impact area. They come in and outta there. Fog this time a year is horrible. My son had this tag 4 years ago and will never put in for it again!

There’s still a bunch crossing the highway between Rye grass and vantage. Just gotta pick the right daily when they’re on the firing center.
