Good hunting related books to read in the off season
« on: December 26, 2024, 09:34:35 AM »
Good Morning all,

I am looking for some more books to read in the off season. This year I am planning on reading about black tails as I have only read 3 books so far on mule deer hunting. What are some books you recommend that relate to WA state black tails and hunting on the west side with modern rifle and with bows? Do people here tend to still hunt black tails, glass, intercept between transition zones, saddle hunt, etc. I am just trying to gain as much knowledge as possible so I can hopefully become successful at hunting. Thanks again for all previous information/advice everyone has already given me before. Maybe one day I can post the first success story.

Blacktail Trophy Tactics by Boyd Iverson is typically the go to book for blacktails.   I believe there are one and two.  Library might be the cheapest route.   Often on Ebay but usually somewhat spendy.

Scott Haugen also has a book, I haven't read it but have heard good reviews.   Cameron Haines has one.   I don't know how great of a blacktail hunter he is, but I like his style typically when it comes to other things.  THese two might be easier to come by, but Iversons is pretty much the standard I think and often on most folks shelf

Not a blacktail hunting book but a western washington bear hunting book called The ultimate guide to black bear hunting by douglas boze. I found it in the library. I think he might have another one as well.
