Does anyone have any experience with the Waypoint 2020?

I'm looking to pull the trigger on the Waypoint 2020 or Seekins Precision Havak Element. I'll be topping it off with my S&B 3x12x42. I'm upgrading my coastal blacktail rifle.

Thanks...BA

Not sure if it has been fixed or not....but the waypoint had firing pin issues when it first came out (firing pins were breaking).  That in and of itself would make me very weary and steer me towards the Seekins.

Never shot either, but have handled both.  Both feel good in the hands and are super light weight.  If those were the only two options, I would lean seekins due to their reputation.

Not to muddy the waters.....butttttt....the weatherby 307 alpine CT would be in the same class and looks to be a stellar rifle.  All reviews are pretty amazing so far.

Thanks everyone. Based on the replies, it's almost a toss-up....

I've handled both and liked how they both felt great in my hands. I haven't shot either, but both have had stellar reviews for accuracy. I also read about the firing pin issue and it didn't appear to be a broad issue, but still an issue. Most of my shots are 20yards to 100yards and I just need something that's light and weather resistant.

Both of my Cooper MTV-21's have a wood stock and carbon barrels, so it will be a nice change.

Thanks again....BA

Nothing wrong with the Springfields, I think they are pretty solid rifles.... the Seekins win out though..

I’d go for the Seekins. My second one is on the way.

If that's all you need why not a T3x SL or a Kimber?

I have the Waypoint .308 in carbon fiber and love it. Light weight and zero problems. .22” groups with my hand loads. I love it so much I’m actually looking to get its twin in 7prc.

I don’t have experience with Seekins, but you won’t be disappointed with a Waypoint.

No experience with Seekins so I can’t comment on that part of it. I have been around a handful of Waypoints now and they are all solid shooters. No issues and they are well under 1 MOA groups.

Handled both. Shot both. Same caliber, 6.5 PRC
Waypoint weighs more than a PH2
Waypoint can have an adjustable comb.
PH2 and Element have no option for an adjustable comb.
Waypoint uses metal mags of a common pattern
PH2 and Element use proprietary carbon fiber mags that cost $90.
Waypoint has smooth action.
My PH2 has a bit of drag when running the bolt forward.

Waypoint purchase before the end of the year will get you a rebate for a rimfire rifle, transfer fees on your dime.

I wanted less weight, so I got a PH2.
Multiple customers wanted the Waypoint, sold them Waypoints. They have no complaints.

Every manufacturer puts out bad product at some point. It's unavoidable.

Had to read your post again after getting lost in my own reply.

Since caliber is not mentioned and the weight difference, plus shooting distance are factors, why not consider a 16" Redline?

Thanks again for everyone's comments.

I pulled the trigger on the 2020 Waypoint, Proof Research Barrel in 308. I handload a lot of 308 and it's been my go to caliber for decades.
I bought the 3rd party, carbon fiber flush magazine.

They don't come with Proof barrels. Are getting a Proof barrel fitted?

I have brothers and friends with various seekins and all of them are absolute tack drivers.

I have also only heard great things about the springfields as well.

I have a 2020 WP carbon barrel 6.5cm with about 500 round count  it doesn't shoot as well as my Tikka that cost half the price, not as smooth either. I had to send it back with a stuck ejector, customer service sucked but they fixed it 6 week turn around.

I ended up buying the Waypoint in 6.5prc and have been happy with it so far. Here is the first group with factory ammo. The single is after I adjusted my zero.
