Doe/2nd Deer tag 407, 460, 448
« on: December 30, 2024, 01:42:05 PM »
Is there any reason why there aren't Doe or second deer special permits in these areas? More so curious why there aren't when there are second deer and doe tags on the peninsula or further south.

Deer numbers aren’t that great in 407 IMHO.

448 deer numbers are low also from what my cameras have shown the last couple years as well as hunting the whole season.

That's it. Deer numbers just aren't that great. 407 surprises me a little considering how much of the unit is private property, but again, just not that many deer.

As others have said, deer numbers aren't great in those units. A couple years ago there was even talk of changing the 460 hunt to 3 pt min, or even closing it.

The 454 second deer hunt is around solely to reduce deer-vehicle collisions. Which is why the hunt is only in the most densely populated areas of the unit.
