WA State is fast becoming the leader in mismanagement of taxpayer dollars.

They want to move the goalposts on passing bonds and levies as well

This would be funny if it was not true. I was pretty surprised by this last election seeing what a mess the State is in.
BUT, the majority of the State's population lives in the Seattle concrete jungle.
I have lived here for most of my life and it is quite sad to see the changes from the late 60's up until now.

Just saw today that they are a billion dollars short.

I was a 50/50 split on being a fan of discover passes. I thought it was stupid at first, but than figured hell for 35 a year it's a good cause for public access. At a reiter pit event we were talking with dnr and I said well, at least this is helping open more offroad trails, hiking trails, public access opportunities etc. One of the higher ups said, the percentage of this money that goes to offroad areas etc is so minsecule its basically irrelevant. He said it mainly goes to highly trafficked city areas. Blew my mind, he was pissed we were pissed etc. Unfortunately it's dam near required for orv areas. I havnt looked up where the actual funds go but that would be interesting

One thing I suggest is to cut ALL DEMOCRATS PAY BY 2/3 to help pay down the short fall?  The cut the governors pay by 3/4 also!  Then stop the salmon culvert project this alone will save the state over $30 million dollars!  If the Indians want this to be completed then they can pay for it to be done, the salmon went through those 24” culverts for decades.  The Indians can get crews together to clean pit the area on both sides of those culverts!

Before I would raise the fee, I'd require the pass for anyone driving on the beaches. Let everyone feel the pain, not just hunters and fishermen.

My daughter got a ticket at point no point for no disco pass and she was just walking the beach

They do check

I think Sitka is referring to the coast, not just any beach. The coast (Beach) is officially known as the Seashore Conservation Area and is the only state land where a Discover Pass is not needed.

I think back of when this stupid pass started, as a state worker and sitting in meetings being told our jobs depended on it.  They sure sold it to the employees in a hurry, can't imagine how the brain washing is going on now.  Most all employees are scared into supporting this crap.  Not to many months ago i was hearing the state had a surplus and was doing good.  I would never support this after being involved in the financial mismanagement of this state, and seeing the poor decisions behind the scenes.  Just like I would never support a tax increase for our public schools in my area, due to the very poor financial decisions I personally know about.

I have never bought one. I won’t. Pay lots for all my hunting licenses. If I ever get a ticket I am still ahead
