Would the liability coverage of a homeowners policy and additional coverage under an umbrella policy meet the self-insured requirement of this bill?

To be clear, I'm dead set against this bill and have already reached out to my representatives. Was more just wondering out loud. I would also think if it does somehow meet the requirements, they will update the verbiage to state that you have to disclose the make and model of every single one of those 25+ guns and list them on your homeowners and umbrella policies.

(It may already state that and I just missed it)

My home owners covers my guns if stolen as long as there is a police report. I had safe stolen many years ago with a handgun in it. The home owners paid me three times what I paid for it, they said the gun value appreciated over time. With no serial numbers.

However I have contacted reps about this bill. And if passed I will not comply with it.

I think if a person is already trying to figure out how their current insurance will put them in compliance we have already lost the battle.  How about hell no on the bill and ALL gun owners will no comply.  This bill is nefarious to its core.  Even if homeowners does cover it.....then it’s all ok?  I hope all gun owners read between the lines on this one. :twocents:

No chit... and the burglar commits a crime with your firearm and the victim sues your insurance, insurance drops you.  Other insurances get scared of the lawsuits and drop all gun owners...then nobody’s legal and the confiscation begins, and they now know who has guns and where they are....back to your point.

My friend is a broker and she has no idea how one would even comply with this Hitler style requirement..
She doesn't know a provider that would insure guns individually....for a private party...the policy would have to be so unique it'd cost a ton just to start....

It just shows how dumb Dems are....or how evil they are..

Can’t get insurance the I guess we’d all be criminals.  I could see this passing someday, because to the masses it seems so safe and innocent.

They’re nothing dumb about it. They know if they get it passed it will take years to over turn. They want to disarm us period . So law after law. Some folks will just give up. Then they come after us hard cases one at a time. It’s all planned. And so far Gun owners are losing.

I'm not trying to figure out how my current insurance will put me in compliance, you're misunderstanding my thought process. I'm more wondering if the State's long term plan is to try to sneak this into homeowners and umbrella policies (and hunting license purchases, and concealed carry applications, etc).
