favorite jig weights for ocean species?

what are your favorite weights for jigs for : salmon, Lings, Rocks, tuna?   Looking for inputs from folks! weight of baits specifically , not colors or brands... ie 2 oz for salmon jig - 32 oz for deep ling ect...

24oz min 300' or deeper
16-24 oz 100-300'
6-12oz shallow
Salmon
4-6oz shallow trolling and mooching
Tuna
4-6oz flutter jigs
1/2-1oz for casting/ swim baits etc..

Variables that change all of the above...wind and current.

I mean, my favorite would be 1/2 oz., but I am not dropping 1/2 oz in 700' to the bottom with the wind blowing 15 mph. As light as I can get away with, but sometimes that's pushing 48 oz.

I use, 1 oz. on low wind days in water <40', 3 oz. if there is wind or in <120' with wind, 5 oz. in <200' and minimal wind, but 8 oz. with wind, 10-12 oz. for <600' and no wind and no current, but 24 oz. with wind. 24-48 oz. for anything over 600'. I have used 36 oz. in 400' with wind and current and it still wasnt optimal. 48 oz. would have been minimum. Even the numbers I listed could change depending on the conditions, but the bottom line is that I like to use as little as possible. 65 lb. braid for halibut, 50 lb. for rockfish and lingcod, and 30 lb. braid or 25 lb. mono for salmon. Line thickness makes a noticeable difference in drag in deep water.

My most commonly used jig is 5 oz. to the bottom in about 180' of water, but that's a little light on windy days.

The species don't change the weights, only the depths, wind, and current change the weights, but I haven't caught many salmon on 48 oz. jigs, but the number isn't zero

When I moved to the coast from ONLY fishing fresh water I ignorantly thought, "Fishing is fishing, my stuff will work". Well, some of it maybe, but it was quite an abrupt and rude awakening once I got here and started fishing salt exclusively.
I only went fishing (with a boat) ONCE here (first time) without checking tides and weather. That was NOT a fun outing.
I also froze up and ruined two NON SALT rated reels by not washing them down right away. That sucked.
While lighter weights CAN be used at times, I would say it is not the norm, and there is a pretty small window (slack tide) where they are useable for the most part. Yes you can, but I have gone heavier for most everything these days.
The numbers posted by the others are on point. Just be ready to change up if you need to.

for sure! so i have been using spreader bars and pipejigs... have a guy back east casting jigs so i am kind of turning that direction for upcoming season at sea

For rock fish in the ocean it ranges between 3oz up to 10oz.  I fishing lings offshore, and I'm known to run heavy jigs.  We use 64oz pipe jigs for halibut and lings.

That’s so situationally dependent but basically as lite as I can fish. For shallow bass I like a 1/4-1oz jig. For shallow lings around 4-8oz usually because baits are bigger. Deep? Generally a 2-3# show.

You can fish a 2# jig in 50’ the same as a 4 oz jig. If your bait is sized appropriately.

For tuna it’s a 80-110 gram game for the tuna jigs I fish.
