Bummer. I work with a lot of pear growers in the unit and some love to send me pictures of the elk in their orchards all winter long

Sounds like you should be applying!

Adding to this sentiment, it’s a tough hunt due to logistics of hunting in and around housing. You’re either shooting across a driveway, over a house or from the corner of a house. Not a hunt for guys that Willy nilly shoot elk. I spoke to all but 1 tag holder I believe. 2 hunters filled their tags with very respectable bulls (one of the tag holders was a 80+ year old women) who made a beautiful 600+ yard shot. There was also 1 guy who shot a bull right in the back leg and then couldn’t follow up on it because it was on a property line and crossed over to a piece he couldn’t get on.

Bottom line, to OP’s point, if you don’t have connections or live in the area it’s not a tag to put in for

Yes I will apply for it this season and also for Malaga. Multiple growers this year told me to apply and they will set me up. I guess the elk are getting worse and worse up around the golf course and doing serious damage to their younger trees and newer grafts.

When looking for or asking for permission from orchardists in these units, I would recommended looking for those that have small trees or grafts as they will likely be more willing to give you the green light.

That 25 put in over 1000 yards of work in a couple days.

Have any pictures?  I have a lot of this herd alive over the last month or so, would be cool to match up with what was taken.
