Heading to Silverwood
« on: June 23, 2009, 02:13:13 PM »
I'm heading up to Silverwood on Thursday and figured while I was there I might try to do some fishing, anyone know of any trout streams close to that area?  I've looked at the maps and looks like there are a ton of streams, thought maybe if anyone had any experience I could narrow it down a bit.

north fork of the Coeur d'alene river would be one of your better bets.

Yeah, that's definitely an option but I prefer small river/stream fishing

you can go along way up the north fork of the cda and get into some fairly small stream fishing.
Post some pictures after the trip

A couple more hours and you could be fishing Rock Creek in montana.  Not sure how pressing your schedule is. :P

NF of CDA river is a great fly fishing stream, have fun.

Thanks for the info guys, I don't think Montana is going to be an option but I will definitely check out the north fork should have some time on Thursday evening and Friday morning the park doesn't open until 11:00. If I had my way I'd skip the park and just camp and fish, but this is one of those score points for later trips if you know what I mean.

There's nothing "real" close to Silverwood as far as stream fishing goes.  The closest would proably to go up Bunko Rd., which you access by heading due E on the road that runs on the S side of the park.  You can go up and over into the CDA drainage and find some small streams and tribs to the CDA River. This time of year it'll be hit or miss on fishability but there should be some fish up in the drainage now.  Distance it's not to far from the park but you're likely an hour, hour and half from anything.  Or you can go clear around on the Interstate and access the area from Kingston side.  It's farther but would take about the same amount of time and easier access.

Spokane River may not be bad.  I actually haven't looked at it lately but I'd guess it's getting close to fishable.  That'd definitely be the closest.

Had a gorgeous morning fishing the little north fork but I didn't catch a single fish, stayed to long, got back after the park opened and really impressed the wife :dunno: she was fit to be tied when I finally got back.

I just got back from Silverwood.  It was a good time.  I stopped off at Black Sheep to see if anything was happening.
