Sons first turkey
« on: February 12, 2025, 10:48:58 AM »
Looking to get my son his first turkey during the youth season. He has harvested other animals but wants to notch a turkey tag. I'm debating between doing a DIY hunt or a guided hunt. Have not hunted birds much east so not familiar with areas of great success. Wouldn't mind if someone has recommendations on a good turkey guide while I figure out the game plan. I'm late to the party for planning but only due to an open window in my work schedule. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What days of the youth season and where abouts are you looking to hunt?

Bearpaw outfitters in Colville, WA....

He is also the site owner @bearpaw .... PM him and / or look at his website.  Great operation and lots of birds go down annually.

Watch the section "Contests, Events, Organizations, Charity" when @bearpaw posts the 2025 youth turkey hunt raffle, he could be one of the lucky ones to win a guided hunt. I know he has some items already donated.

I would recommend a guided hunt for sure.
If you don’t have land access you’ll be spending around the same amount on a DIY hunt with less of a percentage being successful in my opinion.

Not saying it isn’t possibly, just speaking from my own experience taking my daughter out from ages 8-10.

Maybe Bearpaw has turkey maps for sale like he does for deer and bear  :dunno:
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

On 21 June, 2025 the US bombed three Iranian nuclear sites and, according to the President the Iranian nuclear capability was "obliterated". Now it appears the the US is again preparing military strikes on Iran if they won't agree to abandon their nuclear program that is/was reportedly in ruins?????
Who knew that Obama winning an Nobel Peace Prize would lead to this?
