.25's a great caliber for most everything we hunt here including predators and bears with a nice light recoil and great ballistics.

Right on... thanks for educating me.  Maybe, I'll wipe the dust off my H&R and give it a try.

i'm dying to throw a few rounds down range out of my .257 weatherby but the price of ammo almost made me puke in my mouth the other night at cabelas. times are a little tight right now so i won't be buying any $60-70 a box ammo at this time.
since owning it for 3-4 months I still haven't fired it.

Its a WBY cartridge. All WBY cartridges are expensive. I picked up a bag of brass for my .257WBY the other day. $80. for 50 brass.

i was expecting expensive...just wasn't expecting $70 for 20 expensive. i'll get some soon, probably a couple boxes so i have some and i'm sure i'll love the gun. $60-70 range were the cheaper ones...spitsers, accubonds, etc. the x bullets and the ttsx rounds were $80 a box.

why do you want the 25-06?!?! :chuckle:
Have a .243, a .270 and the .300RUM and for some reason the .25-06 has always appealed to me. Its either the .25-06, or spend some money to make the .243 a shooter.

As much as it pains me to say this... I'd skip the .25-06 if you have a .243 and a .270 already in the stable. A super accurate .243 is one of those rifles that everyone should have... 55s at 4K+ just have to be seen to be believed... and the 105 AMax is a long range beast. Coyotes, 'chucks, deer... pretty much anything the .25 will handle, the .243 will handle... and that's coming from a guy who loves the .25-06. Mine went away... and I'm back to my old 6mm Rem.

My dilemma is that my .243 is a Win Mod 70 and it is in a youth stock, so I would have to spend some money on a stock (and maybe a barrel). I was hoping it would still have a 24" barrel being a youth model, but it is only a 22" barrel. So I would basically only be using the action. By the time I spent that much, I could have a new gun to play with...  :chuckle:

Yeah, I hate selling 'em, but if I don't shoot them it makes it easier.
