New Zealand Red Stag
« on: March 02, 2025, 03:44:58 PM »
Dream hunt of mine came true last week. Red Stag has always been my number one. It was a wild experience hunting on a ranch. To fancy for me and the wife but we had a blast. We seen many animals and had many opportunities but could not talk myself out of this guy. Stags have so much character but the crowns on this one were to good to pass up for me in my “class”. I could not be happier, year and half for shipping and taxidermist work can not come soon enough.

Congratulations on a nice stag! Did you go for anything else while you were there?

Great stag. That is a bucket list for me to hunt stags during the roar. Would love to piggyback that off with a sight seeing vacation.

Thank you! I wish. Stag was my number one and only thing in the budget. If I had more to spend I’d probably just go after a bigger stag. lol. They had lots of fallow, tahr and chamois though, very cool place. Could also hunt opossum and wallaby at night.

Awesome! Going during the roar. :) our outfitter had a pretty good checklist to bring that was pretty accurate. The only thing that I wish I brought and didn’t was a spotting scope. My thoughts that the guide would have them. Which they did. Was just kind of a pain sharing. They did have extras. I just should have brought my own as well.

Do it! I decided to go before the roar in the first couple weeks of the season to have a bigger selection. Roar would be cool though. So much to see. We went for an additional week for touristy stuff and could have spent another week. Especially if we could jump over to Australia.
