Not a problem if you get a title with it. (Or if it's new from original maker)  If you have no title you'll have to go thru the inspection process I think ( for sure on trailers, not sure on boats)  If you need an inspection all I can tell you is good luck trying to get an appointment time. Some people are still trying 4-5 momths.

With no title I'm pretty sure you'll have to get an inspection to register it.  They do it by appointment only and you schedule on line.  Sounds easy, but as you'll see it's almost impossible to get a time. They've closed several inspection spots and new appointment times are posted every Tuesday at approximately 11:00 am. They're taken literally within seconds. Had a thread on it a while back with some posters saying they'd been trying for months.  If you go thru with it pm me and I'll tell you how I expedited it, but still took about 6 weeks. Once you get the titles it's no big deal to register. If

Might add, it'll probably be much easier for your brother to get a duplicate title for the trailer in his state rather than go through the process here

I'm trying for a trailer now with no title.  I bought from someone, who bought from someone else and didn't do the transfer.  Tried once, now have the re-re-signed re-notarized application with highlighting and sticky notes from DOL.     Next trip to town will see if I get a registration and new plates.   :dunno:  It is a WA trailer.  No rush since I'm doing a rebuild/restoration on the boat with some minor design modifications.
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

Good Luck- I went thru that and bottom line had to get the trailer inspected before they'd register and issue plates. As mentioned above, it was a bit of nightmare getting it done.

Kinda like a car, you can't keep driving with out of state plates if you are a resident.  You might get away with never being stopped, not sure if they'd check closely or not if you were randomly pulled over while towimg.

Well, might wanna just go down to a dol location and double check for sure what you'll need to do.  I'm no expert and maybe things are easier than they were a few months ago.

If it doesn’t have a title you are in for long term aggravation in WA. We run a boat building/ resale business and will not accept an out of State boat or trailer for trade in or resale without a valid title. Just too much hassle.

I agree with Scotsman.  I do this all day handling boat total loss claims.  In Mn, any boat over 16ft and any boat with a motor must be titled.  As long as you have the title properly signed you should have zero issue

It isn't over 16', so there no title on the boat.  Pretty sure there is a title for the trailer.

Trailer will be titled.  If the boat has an engine it will be titled as well.  A notarized POA and a bill of sale should work if it was never titled and the MSO sheet is gone
