Gizzard stones
« on: March 10, 2025, 08:25:10 AM »
Have any of you turkey hunters took the time to check out the gizzard stones in any of the birds you have gotten? I saw this cool clip on Tiktok of different gizzard stones this guy has collected. They are pretty unique between each bird.

I have not, just recently heard of it. My buddy started last fall with his grouse, pretty cool finds. One gizzard had a couple portions of a .22 round. You could still make out the ribs on the rounds. Pretty neat stuff.

I would have tossed that bird. Easy way to get lead poisoning.

I have looked but all I see is the stuff that resembles my driveway with a couple pieces of quartz every now and then.

I saved mine in a jar last year because I saw a video about it. Unfortunate we didn’t see it earlier because my kids killed 4 during the youth season. We will be keeping them all now.
