Krag-Jergensen springfield armory rifles 1898s?

So i was cleaning up my father in laws closet and he has 2 of these rifles 1898 standing in corner.. had no ever messed with them before. No idea what they are valued at and if i should have them in a safe or not... thought they were cool with that flap loading gate, i believe them carbines wiht shorter stock not to barrel ends
....
