I hunt for sustenance. I'd much rather take a mid-life buck and enjoy the experience for the 6 months I eat him than a trophy that's hard to swallow. And, it's not like I'd pass on a bigger one were there the opportunity to do so.

:dunno:  I don't carry a tape measure when I hunt.  I wouldn't know how to measure a deer anyway.

Learned long ago you can't eat the horns.  You going to guarantee a nice buck every year for the next decade? I'm taking that all day!

I'm not a trophy hunter, I just like to put some wild game on the table now and then. I truly think if a 200" plus buck was in my sites, I'd pass as I wouldn't have it mounted and couldn't honor the trophy like it should be. Let another hunter who has that dream put it on their wall.

My answer in my 20’s would be different than what it would have been in my 30’s and so-on. Now that I am 59 and hunt other states also, the four 180 inch bucks in 10 years is what would fit for me.  :dunno:

Anything 150 or bigger is a done deal .
I've always been a meat hunter,if it's a stinky old buck.
Street tacos and deer enchiladas for me.🤤
I didn't vote,150 or bigger is always the goal, but if it stands like stupid. It's in the freezer.

I’ll take a 220+ all day long. Never had a issue putting meat in the freezer

I voted for 6 in 10 years, that's about what my current success rate is but they are a long ways from 160".

6 - 160” buck in tens years would be an unbelievable feat to accomplish. And 1 elk feeds my family for a year so deer are just icing on the cake. If I weren’t an elk hunter I may think of it differently.

I am currently happy with deer that are old or 160” plus, but it’s definitely a progression. Currently the six 160” to 180” bucks in 10 years would make me happy. I’d rather focus on “filling the freezer” with elk and whitetail. There was definitely a time when any legal mule deer was the goal.

Should have shot this one, because the one I got last year was tougher than boiled shoot owl.🤯

Plus I wouldn’t have had to pack it out.🤣
