So they changed the rules in 278 for archery hunters to 3 point min 2024... from 3 point min or antlerless the previous year because of declining deer populations.

But total harvest only dropped by 4 deer, 81 to 77 when deer killed by all weapons was totaled up.

Considering only 7 deer were shot with a bow that’s really not that abnormal. Most of that number is rifle and muzz

Thats my point. If they want to lower the amount of deer harvested to help the population they should either not allow rifle, or hunting by any weapon it appears.

This is getting in the weeds, but if they really want to bring back deer number in the Columbia basin then maybe they shouldn’t give out depredation tags all Willy Nilly like they’re doing. All the reports I hear is these orchards and alfalfa growers will get their hands on 5 or 10 permits to take deer or elk and then in their eyes it’s open season day or night no limits. It’s state sanctioned poaching IMO

With a $10 no reporting fee, don't believe all of the numbers presented. $10 is a small fee to "protect" some folks favorite hunt unit.

I bet more people just say they got the animal in a different GMU and then not pay the $10

Maybe, but the ones I know all pay the $10. Either way the numbers are skewed.

I agree for sure . Skewed is correct.
Then in the next few years with CWD. Guys will skip testing by claiming it was shot in a different GMU.
I don't really see the numbers getting better as time goes on.
