Looking for some advice about goldendale. Hunted up there for the last 9 yrs but just lost the private land access guy lost the property. Now we are completely in the blind this year. Too far to drive and scout much so any advice would be appreciated. We hunt modern firearm

There are several hunting clubs in the East Klickitat GMU. There is good hunting to be had, it just depends on how much money you are willing to spend for access. Otherwise, if you don't want to join a club, you might want to look to the west in the Grayback and West Klickitat GMU's, both of which have public land to hunt on.

I hunted goldendale last year and got a little 3x3...when your in the town go to outdoors store right in themiddle of the city and ask where the public land is to hunt, thats what i did, nice friendly people there..they put me in a couple of real good spots, and shot a buck...most public land is east of the city off of highway 142,

Nine years in the same area and you never thought about venturing out or heard about other places. This must have been a damn good area in order to keep you there and only there.

Yes some of you are correct I hunted there for 9 years and now i need some advice what to do now it was a unbelievable piece of land we hunted and no need to venture out, did not think that we would have a need............now we do if you cant I understand but to those who scoff at the idea well I just hope it will not happen to you and if it does hopefully you will not get the same response you are giving now if it is too much too ask I understand and will pull the post......thanx

We hunt the upper Monument area, NW of town. Heading over Labor Day weekend to do some scouting.

Hey Redneck, just making an observation not trying to be pissy but i guess you seem to be a little more uptight than the next. Apparently this place was a little more of a good thing than we will ever know if you got you that on edge. Was not expecting to get a tongue lashing, lighten up a little especially when asking for advice.

Good luck in finding a great area to hunt. I have been hunting this area for 28 years, and have lived around the area about the same amount of time. This problem you have, is problem that all of us have, I'm sorry for the prime area that you hunted before, but it's never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket, as you well know now. Due to the high predation (increase in cougar and bear populations over the last ten years), the deer population is about a third of normal, and of course the larger percentage of the deer are upon private property. My suggestion is to get in good shape and adventure behind the closed gates in the 578 and 388 units and don't expect huge amounts of deer but some nice bucks to be had if your 3 to 5 miles back into a closed to motor vehicle area. Oh yeah Furr put it well not to be harsh, but when asking for advice listen with soft ears and not a hardened heart, your going to get alot of different response's to your question when asking in a certain tone or manner.

sorry if my tone has seemed a little harsh, I appreciate what advice I have gotten, but yea my dander gets up a little bit when guys like Iceman makes little jab comments. It is obvious that maby we should have ventured out a bit but when you have a honey hole what is the point. I am by no means asking for anybody's fav spot only trying to narrow the search down for public land when we do go up to scout. Am fairly new to the site and do not want to make enemies..........My appologies.

Georgia Redneck, try not to get discouraged by my little "jab" comment, or others here. (If my coy question really bothers you, you are in for some tough times around here...) My thought was that after 9 years, you had to have a better feel for the GMU than most guys on here, seemed guys should be asking you.

When looking for public lands, you can use the WDFW website for help. Another key site is WA Dept of Natural Resources. Once you find spots of interest, you can easily clarify the border of such land by using the county assessor or buildings and lands websites from most county government.

Long story but several years ago my trailer and our entire camp was snowed in all winter up in indian heaven to say the least all our gear was a total loss but to top it all off everything in the trailer was taken before we could get back up to it all my cast iron, pictures from when i was a boy growing up in georgia hunting whitetails i kept it all in that trailer for bragin rights at camp every year but i do have the picture of the last buck i shot up in goldendale and the pictures of my bull i got as a result of having to find a new area after we were unable to make it to camp. Ill post it as soon as i can and the bull is on my profile page.

I drove through that area yesterday. Saw a couple of deer between Goldendale and Bickelton, one legal buck (looked like he's gonna be a 3 pt with an eyeguard on one side) bedded under a tree (it was hot). I also saw 4 coyotes. Wish I had my rifle...

geogia redneck, what part of Goldendale did you hunt??? I know of a few hunting places in g-dale to hunt pm me on which part you used to hunt and I will help you out the best I can.
