What type of deer do they have in New York?
When I inevitably choke to death on gummy bears, I’d simply like it said that I was “killed by bears”, and leave it at that

Sweet!  Why were you over there?  That seems like some kind of road trip! :chuckle: was the whole reason you went over there to hunt?

That seems like a fun trip, I’d really like to see some of those east coast woods.

Better hunting than WA :chuckle:
Sad to say -by almost 200000  :yike:

In the 2024-25 New York deer hunting season, hunters harvested an estimated 223,304 deer. This includes 122,427 antlered bucks and 100,877 antlerless deer. The harvest saw an increase of 9% in antlered bucks and 3% in antlerless deer compared to the previous season.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Total Deer Harvest: 223,304
Antlered Bucks: 122,427
Antlerless Deer: 100,877
Antlered Buck Increase: 9% from last season
Antlerless Deer Increase: 3% from last season
Highest Harvest Density: Western Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario Plains regions, with more than 10 deer harvested per square mile in specific Wildlife Management Units (WMUs)
Reporting Rate: 53.6% of successful hunters reported their harvest, exceeding the five-year average.
Deer Checked by DEC: 13,488 deer were checked by the DEC to collect biological data and determine the reporting rate
