From my experiences, some are, but usually the bigguns are clean, or will be within 3-5 days.

September 1st are the bucks still in velvet up high?
Last year I had my first buck I saw shed velvet Aug 30. It was a nice buck, but not big. Most of the bigger bucks I was watching shed the first week of Sept. I had some small stragglers hold until Sept 14. Hope that helps.

Granted mine and my wife's bucks were low country mulies, my buck shed his velvet the day before season and my wife's buck was still perfect on the 2nd
