Still could be darn fun. See some giant bulls and then bird dog them. Stay a little ways away and hit up some lost cow/calf calls. Some lonely horny spike who doesn't know any better will come check you out. Meat in the freezer

you are correct!! Elk hunting of any caliber is pretty bad azz.

good luck finding a spike in that unit during that time.  Hunt way down low in the unit where the cows and spikes go.
