Rimrock Bull: Modern
« on: June 17, 2025, 11:00:13 AM »
Hi everyone.
I can't say enough about this site, and how much I have learned from all of you on here.
Been a long time follower, with a few posts.
Which brings me to today.  My son drew both the Rimrock bull, and cow tag as his 3rd and 4th choices with very little points.  Crazy luck.
We totally did not expect this.  We have hunted the manastash unit for as long as I can remember, and know next to nothing
about Rimrock. I know, I know, I hate being one of those guys..... I am more then willing to share info regarding areas in Manastash that we
typically find bulls in exchange for any place to start.
My son just became a Certified Flight Instructor, and will be very busy in the upcoming years so I don't want to waste this great opportunity.
I have a truck camper, and any suggestions on places to camp are appreciated as well.
Looking to get over there in the next couple weeks to start scouting, and maybe place a couple cameras.
Thanks everyone. Any DM's are greatly appreciated.
LV42DAY!!

hunted Rimrock last year for spikes,a friend had a cow tag,no shots fired for us but there was plenty of tracks everywhere.Saw some dead bulls hangin in camps- saw some guys draggin cows out -successful cow hunters i saw sat on meadows early morning and dusk, and it worked for them. I think we stomped around too much and were impatient.Elk were spooky and pressured.it was our first time in the unit.I drew Modern Rimrock cow this year-but also drew Modern Bethel Bull so i will be across the Lake this year.Good luck!

Look up Ty Brown from Rugged Class outfitters.
I don't know if he guides anymore but he knows the rock.

Hey there. I have had many cameras out there over years for different reasons. Not anymore though. Been a couple years since I last pulled them. Still go out there to ride my dirt bike and I am pretty familiar with the area. I might be of help if you r interested.

Been over the last 2 weekends, and have yet to lay eyes on any elk.
Seen tons of sign, but no animals.
Any archery, or muzzleloader hunters out there with any suggestions of where to look?
Tag starts on the 20th...getting excited but nervous.

DM's greatly appreciated.

use to hang cameras in the Rimrock. haven't been there for years. I had a muzzleloader bull tag and screwed up on a this bull. usually camped about 3 - 3.5 miles in.that seamed like the sweet spot for me.

What year was that? I drew a Rimrock muzzy bull tag in 2012 and got a 300" 6x7 on day 3... A 360" bull came right out after squeezing the trigger... Herding his cows in the smoke at 25 yards...  My bull was just a satellite to that big herd... Came right in to some cow calling... Passed up a few rag horns up to that point... Was a good hunt... I was amazed...
I love you... I really do...
