Thank you guys and especially those willing to share info, it may have only been 4.5 miles, but at 71 years old it was far enough for me, we didn't get back to camp with the first load of meat until 1:30 am, the next morning we headed back in at 8 and got back to camp at 4, it was the best experience, my son and grandson made it extra special, great memories.
4.5 miles is a darn long ways to move an elk without pack stock. Especially in that country and ESPECIALLY in your 70’s! That’s a heck of an accomplishment and it’s fantastic that you had the rare opportunity to make those memories with your boy and grandson. At the end of the day that’s all that counts, well done
