Best all around muzzy (updated)

Did some research on best all around muzzy and the thread was from 2012, a lot has changed I suspect and with new laws, scopes and such, it's outdated.  Got some extra money for a birthday and I'm looking to buy a longer range, good quality muzzy.  Currently have a cva accurra that works great for me, but it has a pretty short barrel, comfy out to 100 yards but not much more.  Not looking to shoot 300+ yards, just looking for a nice set up.

It uses a rifle primer instead of 209?  Up to 200 grains of powder, the velocity is impressive !

i shot my buddies and yes it’s incredibly accurate out at 250 yards BUT I wouldn’t want to carry it in the woods it is heavy and cumbersome the knight mountaineer is awesome but my favorite is the ultra lite they’re shooters and a dream to carry

I love the no tool option on the CVA to remove the breech, anyone shoot the LR-X Accura ?

that sounds like the LR-X?  It’s high on my list, I just wish the ram was attached below the barrel like 99% of muzzys.

Nope, Accura v2. It has the regular ram rod that stores beneath the barrel.

I can second this, I use the accura lrx and was shooting 1.5” groups at 100 yards with open sights. BH209 powder and Lehigh 265 gr cf bullets. Although looking for something else bullet wise this year

Blackhorn 209 with the BH209 designed breech plug. I shoot PowerBelt Aerotip 245s… have killed 7 elk with this set up, but have been told that I’m shooting “too light” of a bullet for elk….

People who know... (like Sabotloader), shoot Knights.

I have a knight bighorn and love it.  I did swap out for peep sights, and put a new boyds stock on it.  I'm minute of elk at 200 with it using 460 grain no excuses bullets.  I can keep a 2" pattern at 100 yards with open sights.  Goes bang every time if I do my part.

The best all around muzzy.  Is the one that you shoot, like and keep using!  Be it a CVA Hawkins, a true Kentucky long rifle or the many others that are out there.  I like my long rifle that I put together from scratch.  It out the ball right where I aim it, out to 150 yds.  It does what I want and feels good shooting it.

they stopped making the 265 grain and im leery of using the next heaviest grain which is 240 grain on elk.

What is a barely used Knight Western Disc Extreme worth nowadays.  Had it for about 10 years now.  Still set up for pre 209 days.  It’s a great shooter and built really well with a Green Mountain barrel and Timney trigger with a nice laminated stock.

Have had the REM 700 UML for 5-6 years now, no complaints and very easy to use.  Little heavy but a different rem 700 SA stock can fix that.  Very accurate and no complaints, might not be best all around since in many states it isn’t legal but for WA I’d buy it again.

those are no fun to shoot. Shot it more than 5 times and you have a bruised shoulder. I bought one and sold my knight to a friend. Shot the uml at the range once and traded it back for my knight😂

I had limsaver put on a custom pad on my UML.
Helped with recoil a ton!

Have a bell and Carlson on mine, little lighter and less recoil.  No need to run a max charge, but with the laminate stock and a full 200 grains it’ll be advised to know a dentist, it’ll rattle your teeth but hit where your pointing with some energy!

I have several muzzleloaders and my favorite is my CVA Accura v2 50 cal. Accurate and super easy to clean! Have had good luck shooting saboted hornady 300gr. 45cal. xtp pistol bullets in it with 100gr. of triple seven powder!
