North Sea Fishing trip
« on: July 15, 2025, 01:24:33 AM »
I'm currently over in the UK visiting family.  Got to catch a charter fishing trip on the North Sea last week.  Beautiful day,  Managed to catch several smooth hounds and a dogfish.

What is a smooth hound? What are the typical prized sport fish there?

Small species of shark. Went on a North Sea charter in Holland. Mostly mackerel.

Small shark species, their teeth are lay flat for grinding crabs.

"Like other smooth-hound sharks, the common smooth-hound aggregates in large numbers, like a pack of dogs, so they are called hounds."

A similar species, Brown Smooth-Hound sharks can be found from Baja to Northern Cali.
