Good day of steelhead fishing!
« on: July 19, 2025, 07:52:58 AM »
Had a good day on the Cowlitz Wednesday. 4 for 5. Only saw 1 other boat run up past us. In 6 hrs!
Fishing was great. Tons of 🦌 deer out. Lots of eagles. Watched an Osprey do a dive bomb and get a fish. incredible morning!

Diver and Loonie coonies!

Watched that little buck for almost 2 hours walking up and down the bank.

Does not get much better that that!

Love the Cowlitz during late summer. Minimum flows and loaded with summer runs and sea runs. Everybody else off chasing salmon

Hate this guy. Lol. Planning on taking my little drift boat there Monday. I know I’m not supposed to to ask but we’re up by the blue creek launch or  ??

Took Suzyque out for a couple hours this afternoon. She got 1 take down and landed 1 fish.
Zip for me, but I plan on making up for it in the morning! :chuckle:
And saw a few more deer!

Had carb issues on my yamaha 9.9 kicker the other day. Didn't want to idle. Figured plugged jet after 14 years. Planned to take it off and clean it but picked up an aftermarket on Amazon for $50. Hmmm $400 cheaper than oem. Put it on yesterday and ran it for a bit seemed good. Suzyque and I went out this morning and it ran flawlessly! Ill tear my old 1 down and run it through an ultrasonic cleaner. Fished 4 hours without a bit and on our last run picked up 2 nice recycled in 15 minutes! I did get the first. Sue got the second 1.

Oh, and saw 4 sets of does with twin fans! That was cool!

Oh, and a skunk!

Got skunked in that hole literally and figuratively!😉

Both of these fish just picked up the bait again. No typical diver and bait hammer down!

That's half the fish we caught in the last week that bit like that. I think it's more than I've had do that in the last 3 or 4 years combined!

Great to see the summer slime rockets in good abundance! I so miss fishing summers, as they were my FAVORITE fish through the 80-90's, on the "S" Rivers, that's awesome they're in the Cow! Maybe it bodes well for the Upper Columbia (just maybe??) too? Fantastic that you didn't have much company too, that's an anomaly nowadays!
