Marine Area 10 (Seattle and Bremerton Area) opens additional days of Chinook retention
Corrects month missing on the rule: Aug. 1 to Aug. 2, 2025: Daily limit is two including no more than one hatchery Chinook plus 2 addition pink may be retained. Chinook minimum size is 22 inches. All other salmon species, no minimum size. Release chum and wild Chinook.
Action: Opens salmon retention.
Effective date: July 31 through Aug. 2, 2025.
Species affected: Salmon.
Location: Marine Area 10 (Seattle and Bremerton Area), except Shilshole Bay and waters of Elliott Bay east of a line from West Point to Alki Point remain closed to salmon fishing. Sinclair Inlet and Port Orchard, Agate Pass Area, and year-round piers (Bremerton Boardwalk, Illahee State Park, Seacrest Pier, and Waterman Pier) follow rules listed in the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.
Salmon rules:
July 31, 2025: Daily limit is two including no more than one hatchery Chinook. Chinook minimum size is 22 inches. All other salmon species, no minimum size. Release chum and wild Chinook.
Aug. 1 to Aug. 2, 2025: Daily limit is two including no more than one hatchery Chinook plus 2 addition pink may be retained. Chinook minimum size is 22 inches. All other salmon species, no minimum size. Release chum and wild Chinook.
Reason for action: Catch estimates for the Marine Area 10 summer Chinook fishery indicate that through July 27, 50% (1,576 of 3,166) of the harvest quota, and 9% of sublegal encounters (579 of 6,742) have been reached. Based on daily catch rates, sufficient quota remains to allow for this additional opening and Chinook retention of the 2025 summer Chinook season.
