Another nail in the coffin for western WA pheasant hunting

https://chronline.com/stories/centralia-mayor-councilors-call-for-closure-of-wdfw-operated-game-farm,386103

Centralia Mayor and council want it closed.

Lot of assumptions and little data.

The most positive is relocation properties being identified, but with the budget woes I'm not particularly hopeful.  This would be very sad for my dogs and I.

My understanding is that they already cut the program funding for '26 and beyond, essentially ending it at least for the near-term future. It would likely require a major concerted effort to get it reinstated.

Losing the farm as a potential site would probably be a long-term setback to the program ever being re-funded. Crazy what's going on with the city council and water issues. Sounds like they may want to use the land for higher tax generating uses  :dunno:

Once it’s gone it will never be replaced in this state.

Then there's that reality.

I was told the Department was committed to asking the Legislature to fund the program in 26 and that WDFW was not going to close the Game farm. They are disputing the water issues.
This from someone pretty high up in Game Management. That could change but I would suggest that talking it up to staff and the Commission might keep them on track.

Water quality is important. That phez farm would make a great location for another sewage facility similar to the one surrounded by dairies just downstream. Maybe another massive Unfi warehouse? That'll help keep that nasty rain from gettin in the dirt. Nitrates are their lie. $$$
