Scope/mount options Ruger Ranch 5.56
« on: August 04, 2025, 03:31:01 PM »
Looking for some feedback on good scope and or mount options for a Ruger Ranch rifle in 5.56/223. It has a rail, which is nice. I have an Sig Sauer Tango scope that comes with a rail mount that I’m considering putting on it. I like the fact it’s illuminated and has elevation marks for this caliber. I also have decent Burris adjustable power scope I could use. Anyone have recommendations for decent rings that clamp to a rail? Probably just a traditional 2 ring setup, but open to other options. Appreciate any tips or feedback

I guess a main question I have is, who makes a good set of rings that mount to a rail. There seems to be a ton of options

Warne Mountain Tech, Seekins and Nightforce rings have good reputations. If I had to buy some today I'd go with the Warne MT's.

I've long liked Warne.

I use their steel stuff vs. aluminum.

The cantilever mount is likely to place the optic at a height that is not optimal because they are made for ARs.

I can't stand Warne rings for anything important. Too many failures that I've personally experienced. I've sent Vortex and Nightforce rings in for warranty replacement.

Currently I'm really liking the Nightforce rings and mount more than I did the Vortex rings and mounts. Vortex uses blind holes for ring cap screws. Nightforce drills and taps it all the way through.
