CWD question
« on: August 12, 2025, 12:19:46 PM »
The wdfw put a stop to the baiting of wild game here in Washington State not going to get into the reasons why. I don't no if this is been brought up before but here we go. Here is a scenario A wolf pack of 5 to 7 wolves take down a deer which is infected with the cwd  disease they eat it all is left is the skeleton question is will they spread the disease have they done studies on this if they can spread it how are they going to keep the wolves and other critters from spreading it  Have they been questioned about this ? are they going to make illegal for wolves to congregate around the carcasses? We all hear about the releasing of invasive species in the state water ways what if they introduce a wolf from montana or B.C. or where ever they trap them for release into wa.  and it is infected with this chronic wasting disease can't wait to hear the spin on this subject

Yes wolves can spread it.
Google it
Lots of research out about it.
Some folks say say wolves are cleaning the environment, while other say they spread through there fecal dropping.
Both are true to some extent.

Your second question about wolves from other states.
It's the same rabbit hole
They'd never admit they brought them here.
Doesn't matter how they got here, yes they could of brought CWD with them.

I'd Google it, definitely some interesting stuff in that rabbit hole.
Birds can also spread it ,and fly miles in one day.

If you're gonna ask that you need to research in how many infected animals predators take out and don't spread the disease. Wolves eating an infected animal is in no way a big deal. They wanted a way to ban baiting and found one...
