Spooked Bear
« on: September 07, 2025, 06:05:43 PM »
First year bear hunter here. I have been hunting a specific bear for the past few weeks. I know he stays in a relatively small area. I ran into him and ran him off at about 6 yards. Will bear remain clear from an area after a close encounter with people? Should I stay out for a few days? Any information would be appreciated.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see him back in short order. As long as you don’t keep spooking him.

He’ll be there, use the wind in your favor and ambush him. One year I had a big boar figured out and was trying to put my BIL on him. One night he wanted to feed up hill into the berries and he knew we were there, he threw a fit and smashed up a maple stump that had suckers growing out of it. We couldn’t see him but we heard the commotion and could see the branches getting thrashed. The next morning we caught him up on the hill at 80 yards broadside, my BIL missed him. He didn’t leave the area, but was really cautious though. Just couldn’t get him out in the open the rest of the weekend.
