Patio front works for me.

Has anyone got refunded yet? Wife picked one up and also got charged 3 times. All 3 of which went through on her cards.

Refund just posted. I didn't request it... so they are on it. Both the tag and conv. Fees refunded today.

Ya wife sent an email yesterday and got the extra two charges removed.

I surrendered mine the day after.  Will they even send the multi season without the original tag being surrendered???  This is my first year surrendering a tag so I was under the impression you had to before they sent the other.

We went to Sportsman's Warehouse and the gal at the counter had to call WDFW to advise it was being surrendered.  WDFW took the document number and said the new tag would be showing up in the next 5 to 7 business days.

Worst case scenario....I have to purchase a replacement, so I felt comfortable surrendering it right away.

Could you have purchased a “replacement” for the MS right then, and got your MS tag in hand that day?

From the wdfw website newsroom

Surplus multi-season tag purchasers being charged multiple times

WDFW statement Aug. 25, 2025

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is aware that some customers were charged multiple times for multi-season deer tags they purchased during the recent surplus tag sale on August 21. WDFW is working to address this issue as quickly as possible and issue needed refunds. WDFW will also be working with the point of sale vendor to understand what caused this error and how to keep it from happening again. We appreciate your patience.

This error did not impact the number of multi-season deer tags issued on August 21. All 2,693 surplus multi-season deer tags were sold August 21 and remain sold out.

I was hoping so….but was not an option.  I’m sure I could have purchased a replacement multi season and paid the additional cost, but I’m not in a hurry.  We will see if t shows up in the mail next week.  I won’t get worried about iit till then.

Just got of the phone with Fish & Wildlife. They are printing and sending out the multi season deer tags even though you may not have sent or turned in your tag yet. This is in a effort to get tags to people before archery season. You still have a requirement to turn in your single season deer tag. So, hopefully the tags will arrive before Saturday, season starts Monday. There is only 2,000 plus to process. Faith!

I dropped my tag off at a dealer today and the fella just stuffed my tag in a big envelope. I asked if he needed to call it in and if I got some sort of receipt, he said no, they just mail off the envelope once a month or so - No on the receipt. if I would have had an archery tag as my original I think I would have held on to it until I had the MS tag in my hand.
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

Yep. Thats what I did.  It was $8 IIRC.  Cheap insurance.  The wdfw employee signed and labeled my modern tag 'surendered' and said i should keep it, in case I did not recieve the MS in the mail. Big red flag, so I said ill pay the 8 for a dupe and walked with my tag.

The wife hadn’t received her multi season tag in the mail so she went and got a second one printed. And as is tradition they didn’t bother to ask for her old tag. She now has 2 deer tags and will probably have a 3rd in the mail. Always a joke with the multi season tag system.

Nothing yet for me.

For the folks saying no one ask for them to surrender and now they have “X” number of tags in their possession…..don’t you all take some ownership in surrendering them?   I’m not suggesting you all are gonna kill multiple deer, but when you purchase your multi season tag, don’t you have the responsibility to surrender your other??  Hard to blame WDFW for this….and I have a lot of animosity towards are game dept….. but this is on you guys to do what’s right.

Doing what’s right is not filling the extra tags they give us. It doesn’t matter if some gas station employee with a 6th grade education throws it in the garbage or I do. It’s just funny that they are “required” to take your old tag but usually
Don’t.

I agree....other than the fact, I don't think they throw them in the garbage.  It is my understanding that surrendered tags get sent back to WDFW.  I may be wrong (this is the first year I have ever surrendered a tag), but if they do monitor surrendered tags and you don't surrender yours.....could you potentially get in trouble? When I surrendered mine, the gal at Sportsman's Warehouse called WDFW and they took the doc. number.  She took the tag and placed it in an envelope.

Point being....why not just turn it in?  I get archery opens in a day and half and folks won't have tags in hand (100% WDFW's fault for selling leftover tags so close to archery season).  So then folks that want to hunt the opener, buy the replacement (sucks, but an option non the less), why not just turn it in right then and there.  It wouldn't be worth having multiple tags associated with my WDFW ID that could be scrutinized if contacted by an officer in the field.

Hopefully WDFW figures this out and starts selling extra tags much earlier in the coming years.

They say no one plans to fail, they just fail to plan. I would not want to be the leader of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and know that because of my failure or the failure of the people I supervise (I am still responsible) I had an epic failure in planning on getting these multi season deer tags to 2,600 plus Washington tax playing residents who were charged basically 195.00 each.

Why didn't we plan this two weeks ahead so we would be successful?
Why did we wait until the Thursday before the Monday opening day?
Why didn't we just email them with the transport tag information to print?

I would think with the vast experience and education of the Staff, they might have been able to predict there may be a problem just by looking at a calendar! The backward planning process go's something like this, how do we define success? Well, we want the seconded chance multi season folks to at least have the tag in their possession one week prior to season. So, we want the draw complete two week prior to season. So, two weeks prior to 01 September. Don't they have some kind of yearly training calendar they go of off based on what comes up every year, you know like hunting seasons for example.

Telling folks that if you really want to hunt  you could just go buy a duplicate multi season transport tag for an additional $8.50. is crap OR is that the master plan 2,693 x 8.50 = 22,890 in addition to the 195.00 each. 2,693 x 195 =525,135.

A simple email with the transport tag information would have worked.
Heck, for 195.00 transport tags could have been next day FedEx.
There are only so many sunrises left.
