It is the only unit closed so far. The rest should be good for the 1st. They claim four conflict mortalities.

How often you have to call and check? Everyday? Once a week?

How often do they update?

They want you to call and check before you go hunt.

Tough when you are out for week and more without cell service.

When you call is it automated? Just give you a list of closers?
What happens if you shoot one and the gmu closed since your call?

I was shocked yesterday when I looked.
Surprised more hadn't closed yet.
Some of those quotas are so low ,it won't take long for closed on a few.
At least I can use my tag for a hot minute.

The irony is astounding. Closed due do conflict mortalities. Why are conflict mortalities so high, it’s over populated. Why is it overpopulated, cause it’s closed to hunting.

They killed 12 for depredation last year (total of 16), but the cap is still at 3.  :o

The other question is what happens to all these cats they kill before season? Are they throwing them away? Food banks not going to take them.

Why not let hunters take them ,at least we will do something with them.

Yep, if they have to go into a unit and kill them before the seaso opens,  the quota is definitely set to low.

Seems like a simple math problem.

I know for a fact they go to waist. When it comes to a conflict cat no one can gain from it. WDFW says it will open the door for arguments if it was truly a conflict. They believe it will damage the program and allow for the Mountain Lion Foundation to sue the state.

I can assure you 100% of them go straight to the landfill. It’s freaking ridiculous. They take opportunity from us and then they commit wanton waste after taking opportunity from us. The game management in this state is so freaking backwards compared to any other state in our country that even has a halfway together, it blows my mind.

The change in conflict being added to the numbers last year is to also screw the couple good Sheriff’s out their using right to enforce the law and kill problem cars.

Legislation tried to remove that ability from the Sheriff’s and it didn’t work. So they made this change.

Once again if there are this many conflict issues the population isn’t even close to what they say it is. We all already know that though.

At least its just conflict and not all cause mortality. Or are ones hit by vehicles conflict cats, too?

Also, the list is updated every Thursday. So hunt hard on Wednesdays.

It’s my understanding any kill counts even cars. Could be wrong.

I’m sure they will stop killing nuisance cats in GMU 124 since they have already exceeded the quota.  :chuckle:

Why does their kill count toward the quota begin in April of each year?
