I drew a good Idaho tag, went hunting for mule deer in the snake river breaks.  I know some people might shake their head at the deer i decided on ‘cause I KNOW there’s some bigger ones in there  :chuckle: but I was really happy about this one.  I hiked 15 difficult miles in 2.5 days, not a giant but I WORKED for this one.  I know I  could have held out for a bigger one but I don’t care, I’m super stoked about it!  Also, my kids are a little extra difficult so after a few days gone a guy gets to feelin guilty about being away from the wife and kids.  I texted my wife all the details, after all the niceties she said she’s going hunting (here in Wa) in the morning whether anyone else goes or not! So I quartered the deer up, hiked him back to my truck, headed to camp, slept good, next morning broke camp and on the way home headed to my favorite breakfast spot in Lewiston.  While I was eating, I got a text from my wife, just a picture of her and a blacktail  :yike: the biggest blacktail either of us have ever been lucky enough to get and I couldn’t be more proud of her!  Here they are

Little Washington buck my son in law got with grandson Porky!  Not big enough for me but I am old and picky!  Porky was happy!

My wife got her biggest buck to date! She’s super stoked about it. 369 yards. Absolutely hammered him.

Got my first buck on opening morning. I am self taught and mostly hunt solo, so it was a big moment for me. Shot it offhand with my lever action 44 mag from a treestand. So exciting to see years of determination and hard work finally turn into success. Ill be honest, had a hard time getting out of bed that morning since I heard a lot about the EHD in my area, but sure glad I did.

LOVE that rifle!
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Another young lady with a buck, this is my youngest with her first deer. She was able to work her way up to shooting a legal caliber for big game this year and wanted to follow in her sister’s footsteps. I am one proud dad.
