Great deer all 👍
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

My son was able to make a great shot on this buck at 150 yards! This is his second deer at 11 years old and the suppressor has been a game changer! He took this with a 165 grain 30-06 accubond with a clean passthrough.

@rmadsen Congrats to the young hunter!  Can you explain how the suppressor has been a game changer?  FWIW, I am suppressor stupid, never even seen one in person.

I would 10/10 not recommend shooting one until you are ready to spend the money to get one and have a gun that will host it. They totally change the shooting experience:

It's hearing safe to shoot without ear pro and if you wear ear pro it sounds like you're shooting a pellet gun.

They reduce the felt recoil by a bunch and the perceived recoil by an insane amount (since there is no muzzle blast).

The added weight at the end of the barrel changes the balance of the gun- reduces muzzle rise and helps keep your sight picture between shots.

Because your ears aren't ringing and your brain is not in shock you can hear the impact on the animal and know if you made a positive hit.

I think if everyone shot rifles from day one with suppressors, basically nobody would develop flinches. It takes shooting a high powered rifle from a somewhat intimidating experience to a very pleasant and fun one. I would have never really been into shooting steel recreationally with a 300 WM until it was suppressed.

I know I wasn't the first one to make the comment, but hopefully that helps. Maybe he will chime in with other reasons it has helped.

Road my ebike 2.5m to a clearcut and sat this a.m.  heard a shot about 8:30 from the timber behind me maybe close but not close kinda. I decided around 9 to leave the clearcut head down to the bottom and follow the road that looped back towards the area I heard the shot. I figured with the wind and rain I might catch deer in the road. Didn't even make it a mile and I saw this guy crossing the road in some good timber. I stopped and glasses to make sure it was a shooter and didn't even get off my bike. Pulled the rifle out of my gun bearer and shot him off hand at 150ish yards still straddling my bike. He nose dived into the brush and flopped right back out in the road. Ran into the folks that shot earlier when I was almost back to the truck. They were on there last trip of 2 packing meat. The 11yo son shot a nice 2 point. After we compared notes we figure bith bucks were shot within 2 or 300 yards of each other.

@brokentrail, Dark2Dark did a great job summarizing. For a youth hunter, having a good shooting experience will make or break whether or not they stick with it or not. My kiddos have been spoiled as I set up a 6.5PRC with a suppressor for them out the gate and as a result they both are great marksmen and love to shoot (we had to switch to my 30-06 last minute due to a trigger issue on that rifle). I honestly think the recoil reduction is just as important as the noise reduction. Being able to be sitting there with my son communicating to him every step of the way knowing that neither of our ears were going to get blow out when he pulled the trigger was huge. He had some buck fever going and I was able to get him to calm his breathing with coaching and he made a great shot. If he had hearing pro on I don't know that we would have had the same outcome. Yes, a can is expensive, but it should last forever and it's made shooting my 300 win mag a lot more enjoyable!
