My son was able to get in done today. Was absolutely pouring down rain the whole time but he decided he wanted to hike in to his favorite spot. This guy jumped out right in front of us at about 25yrds and my sons shot him with his 7mm-08 freehand right in the brisket. Piled up right there and we got the fun quartering and pack out while taking a shower. His 3rd deer in this spot in the last 4 yrs. All within about a mile of each other. Congrats to all others in here especially the youth hunters!!!

Awesome job! Way to stick it out and get it done!
I hunted about 6 hrs today with my youngest son, trying to get him on his first deer, didn’t see anything.
My older boy got his deer the day after opening day. Similar story, quartering it out in the rain and ending up absolutely soaked!🤣
When I inevitably choke to death on gummy bears, I’d simply like it said that I was “killed by bears”, and leave it at that

what a pretty deer! I like how you added the picture of the tail. I probably would’ve done the same.

Yeah it's just easier to do that than deal with the 'benchleg police' :chuckle:

Bench leggers can have blacktails.😉

You would have to admit something odd is going on with that buck.

It’s a dandy though, congrats.👍

I know you know this area, I've never seen a buck with any Muley in it anywhere close to this area this buck was taken. Over the years I've had a handful of giant framed BT on cam that were true blacktail in my opinion, extremely rare but they do exist. This was the first time I've hung a tag on one of those. Other than a big frame it was as BT in every other feature as any I've taken. If I thought it was a bench I would be real upfront about it. Either way doesn't really matter to me.
