Starlink Standby Mode
«

I just switched my Starlink RV from paused to standby mode before the deadline and was curious if anyone has used theirs in standby mode yet? It says you can talk and text with it in standby mode so curious if I’ll need to activate a plan to use it during hunting season this year or if it works good enough to send texts home for $5/month?

I just did the same. I have not used it, but watched a video of someone using his to test it. I was surprised how much he could do. Not sure I would depend on it though. Curious to hear if anyone else has used it in that mode.

I won’t depend on it for anything after the last time I used it. If you're camped in an area with trees it can be real sketchy.
However $5/month is way better than what it was to turn it on before at home and then you would get to camp and find it doesn’t work very well. I think I spent $160 in June and it barely worked to send a text message.

You might take a quick drive thru one of the bigger campgrounds. We were in one in Oregon recently and at least half had Starlink systems out.Talked to a couple who were using them and they were more than happy to tell us what worked and what didn't. One fellow has been traveling the country and was very knowledgeable about em ( we have at home but think of changing)
