Othello/Adams County Fair
« on: September 15, 2025, 10:31:06 AM »
Another fair in the books. This one is the last one for me as a parent, as both my kids showing careers are over. My son got his animal weighed in, 127lbs. Nice size. Looked really good! As I may have stated in my Grant County Fair post, we had to find a new breeder after our long time breeder came up short on lambs this spring. My son placed in the top half of his market class earning blue, but no call back. On to Fit & Show! A new day, a new competition. Just as my sons class was about to walk into the show ring, there was an emergency on the fair grounds that needed mitigated. I thought, there's a chance I am missing my Sons last time showing. I was relieved after taking care of the emergency to hear that he had received a call back. In the final, my son showed as he always does, with great precision and attention, and the lamb worked very well with him. When the Judge awarded the Reserve Grand Champion, she handed my son the ribbon and shook his hand. Last time in the ring as an exhibitor, my son earned FFA 2 (Junior/Senior) Reserve Grand Champion. So proud of him. Over the years, he showed in front of a wide variety of judges. My sons consistency to pile up championships and reserve championships is quite amazing to me. My Daughter was the same way. My son competed in the livestock Judging competition on Friday. He tied for second place at 291/300 points. Must have been 100 kids judging. His team placed 4th overall in Livestock judging. He also had a good score/time in the tractor driving, with is team placing 3rd. Sad its over for my kids. We will miss it. Maybe grandkids somewhere down the road.
