Grouse During Deer Season
« on: September 16, 2025, 11:08:22 AM »
We always see grouse while deer hunting but can never do anything about it.

Last year or two I've been thinking about getting a 22 pistol to carry for just such an occasion.

My buddy has a Ruger Mark IV that if it had a suppressor it would be perfect for wabbits/grouse.

Anyone else pack a side arm for the small critters while deer hunting? What are you guys using?
Bad News...The fog is getting thicker...
And Leon's getting laaaaargerrrrrr...

Not too pretty bad...

I always carry a pistol while deer hunting. Ruger MKIV with 5-inch bull barrel, adjustable rear sight. Best loads for this IMHO are 40-grain RNL and 37-grain PHP.

My dad recently picked up a 410 pistol. Looking forward to testing it out this fall, but have no doubt it will do the job.

good deal. the judges and such are not worth a darn unless you are close enough to grab them.
