Following. I'm heading to central MT the first week of November with a young setter fresh out of bird dog school. I need to get him into wild birds as much as I can. Bird contacts galore. But I'm hearing very mixed results from guys returning. I'm primarily after sharpies, and I've heard it's poor this year, so far. Next target are huns. I'll be curious to hear how the latest reports are. I'm thinking about hunting around Lewistown, Malta, maybe even as fs as Scobey. If everything is in the toilet I'll try Idaho for quail.

We had a good week.  6 of us (4 days) and 4 of us for the remaining 3 days killed about 60 roosters.  Most all on CREP land.  That's public walk-in accessible private land.

The birds certainly do get educated given pressure.

That sounds like a fantastic hunt, as evidenced by the snoozing setters. Did you see many sharpies or huns?
