MANDATORY REPORTING AND SUBMISSION FOR 100 GMU's!!!
« on: October 14, 2025, 08:51:36 AM »
Hey ya'll
Spoke to 2 different hunters who shot bucks in the 100 GMU units who had NO IDEA about the new laws. This is not a post to be the 'rules police' but rather for advisement because neither of these gentlemen had any idea about the new rules enacted in March of this year. It is in the game regulations.

***ALL deer harvested in the 100 GMUs must be reported and submit a tissue sample for CWD testing with 5 days of harvest- WAC 220-413-100
***All deer, elk, or moose must be skinned out completely to include skin off the face and eyes, brain, and lower jaw removed before leaving the unit- same law as with any elk, moose, deer, or caribou coming in from outside the state.  WAC 220-413-030

Taxidermists CANNOT accept game that does not meet these requirements as we can be fined for such activity. Again, posting to help this from occurring as the fines are not slight and I was told by a game warden that animals/trophies can be confiscated if not abided by....
Just saying....

I think we all have a responsibility to be educators on this to fellow hunters out in the 100's. Mention it to your less-online hunting buddies, if you see another hunter in the field ask if they plan on pulling the samples or swinging by a check station for help....it's on us to make sure we all know the rules.

We're going to have to normalize this, because we don't have a time machine to go backwards. The first few years will be hard, even annoying maybe, but it's just the way things are going forward with CWD and we can all be invested and active sportsmen who follow the rules and represent the sport well.

It states :All deer,elk,moose.

Clearly stated in the Big game rules.

But this applies only to 100 GMUs, correct?

Wouldn't this new reg mean that leaving proof of sex attached would be a violation?

Local game processors won't release the packages. they require a negative test for CWD.

If you follow the WDFW guidelines of completely boning out, Just how would you leave evidence of sex on the animal?

I always bone out everything to only bring meat home. I went through a game check at the corner of miles creston road a couple years back and they just asked to see my tag and meat that was bagged up in the cooler. Antlers had been cut off the skull already. No issues at all. Checked by a warden and sheriff

I believe that was considered as Processed at that point.

I still leave the genitals or a tit attached to a hind quarter to be safe.... far less questions and answers if you go as far to leave a little skin on a hind quarter that shows it was a boy or girl

Same way backcountry guys have been boning out animals for years, proof of sex is nothing new. Just leave the scro attached to the meat of a hind quarter

so if i shoot a buck or bull, in a 100 gmu, and i want to European it, i have to cape the head, pull out the eyes and some how remove the brain and leave the lower jaw in the woods so i can take the rest of it home. then get it home, i have to submit the wdfw samples. this is a laughing joke, how utterly stupid. if i want to mount it, i need to crop the rack in the field.  i bet the wdfw cant wait to write tickets for this, between these rules and baiting, he state has a new source of revenue.  the socialist review just had an article last week about people turning in lots of baiting sites.

It's the same rules that applied for out of state successful hunters coming back to Washington for like a decade though, it's not radical or revolutionary really. You couldn't bring that stuff back from Montana or Wyoming to WA before, now you just can't do it from the 100 GMU's as well.

Where's it written a taxidermist within the 100 series units cannot accept a skull with meat, brain, eyes, andskin attached?

The idiots that proposed the bill and passed it are beyond stupid. The CWD positive areas could have been treated the same as last year and baiting remained in the other areas. The rule that I can kill a deer in that CWD positive tested area and travel ALL OVER the 100 series units with it completely disregards CWD control measures. If they gonna play the game, the should use common sense.
